Deputies Swift Action Save Man Experiencing Overdose Emergency

Sheriff deputies sprang into action July 24 when a man was found unresponsive on the corner of North Calvert and East Lexington streets. Deputy Christopher Tillery contacted Deputy Marius McEntyre to request assistance when he observed an unconscious male lying on the ground.

Deputy Dotts immediately called for a medic while Deputies Tillery and McEntyre attempted to get the individual to respond to vocal commands and nudging. Deputies McEntyre and Tillery, having both received and successfully completed CPR/AED/Narcan training, recognized the individual was demonstrating characteristics of an overdose.

Deputy McEntyre administered the Narcan dose issued to him from a June 24, 2023 training session. Shortly after, the subject opened his eyes and began to breathe normally. EMT’s arrived on the scene and after being briefed by Deputies, began to interact with the unidentified male.

Deputies waited with him on the scene until the Baltimore City Fire Department arrived.

Thanks to the deputies’ training and quick actions they were able to prevent what could have been a tragedy.
